Homeopathic doctor beaten to death over land dispute in Kendrapara; four detained
Bhubaneswar, May 15: A homeopathic doctor was allegedly beaten to death by his elder brother and other family members following a violent dispute over ancestral land in Baradang village under Mahakalapada police limits in Kendrapara district.
The deceased has been identified as Golak Chandra Nauri, a homeopathic practitioner known in the local area. According to police and local sources, a heated argument erupted late Thursday night between Golak and his elder brother Abhay over a long-standing land dispute within the family.
The verbal altercation soon turned violent as Abhay, along with several other family members, allegedly attacked Golak with brutal force. Sources said the assault continued even after Golak fell unconscious on the ground, leaving him critically injured.
Realising the seriousness of his condition, family members later rushed him to the Mahakalapada Community Health Centre for treatment. Due to his deteriorating condition, doctors referred him to the Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital. However, doctors at the hospital declared him dead on arrival.
Following the incident, police launched an investigation and detained four persons, including the prime accused Abhay, for questioning in connection with the murder.
Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events and the involvement of other family members in the fatal assault.
