Bhubaneswar, May 5: In a significant political development, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday appointed Union Home Minister Amit Shah as the Central Observer for the election of the party’s Legislature Party leader in West Bengal. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has been designated as the Co-Observer for the crucial exercise.
The decision was announced through an official communication issued by BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh, stating that the party’s Parliamentary Board had entrusted the responsibility to the two leaders to ensure a smooth and transparent process.
The appointment of Amit Shah, one of the BJP’s top strategists, underscores the importance the party is placing on the leadership selection in West Bengal. As Central Observer, Shah will oversee the proceedings and guide party legislators during the election of the Legislature Party leader.
Meanwhile, Mohan Charan Majhi will assist in coordinating the process on the ground, ensuring that party protocols are followed and consensus is built among elected representatives.
The selection of the Legislature Party leader is seen as a crucial step, as it could determine the BJP’s chief ministerial face in West Bengal. The observers are expected to closely monitor deliberations and facilitate a fair and orderly decision-making process within the party ranks.
