CM Majhi urges students to stay away from social media distractions

Bhubaneswar, Sep 5: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Teachers’ Day on Saturday urged students to avoid spending excessive time on social media, stay away from propaganda and focus on their studies with dedication and determination.

The Chief Minister made the remarks while interacting with students during the state-level Teachers’ Day ceremony held at Secondary Board High School in Kataka. He advised students to prioritise education and skill development to build successful careers and contribute to the progress of the state and the country.

“Your first responsibility as students is to study well, acquire skills and contribute to the development of yourself and the nation,” Majhi said, emphasising that students should avoid activities that could adversely affect their career-building efforts.

Highlighting the importance of the teacher-student relationship, the Chief Minister said it should be more friendly and meaningful in the present era. He also encouraged students to seek the blessings and guidance of their parents and teachers.

Majhi said education was not merely about imparting knowledge but was a comprehensive process of shaping responsible human beings. Paying tribute to former President Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary, he highlighted the significance of the Guru-Shishya tradition in Indian culture.

Citing examples from Lord Ram and Lord Krishna to Swami Vivekananda and Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, he said teachers have played a decisive role in shaping great personalities.
