Odisha launches ‘ShaktiShree’ app, internship framework
Bhubaneswar, May 2: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday launched the ‘ShaktiShree’ mobile application and unveiled an internship guideline framework aimed at strengthening higher education and student support systems in the state.
The initiatives were introduced during a two-day national workshop attended by Dharmendra Pradhan and Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj.
The ‘ShaktiShree’ app is designed to enhance safety and accessibility for girl students across higher education institutions. It features 24/7 SOS alerts, anonymous reporting of harassment, mental health support services, and direct linkage to Internal Complaints Committees, ensuring quicker response and accountability.
Alongside the app, the Chief Minister released a comprehensive internship guideline book aimed at bridging the gap between academic learning and practical exposure. The framework promotes internships, community engagement, and skill-based education in line with the National Education Policy 2020.
Speaking on the occasion, Suraj described the initiatives as a transformative step in Odisha’s education sector, adding that they would empower students—especially young women—with confidence and real-world experience.
Officials said the combined rollout reflects the government’s focus on creating a safe, inclusive, and industry-oriented higher education ecosystem.
