Two killed in car–bus collision in Mayurbhanj
Bhubaneswar, April 28: A tragic road accident near Kadadiha under Karanjia police station limits in Mayurbhanj district claimed the lives of two persons after a car collided head-on with a passenger bus.
The deceased have been identified as Sanjay Kumar Bal and Nilamani Sahu, both residents of villages under Dharmasala block in Jajpur district. The injured car driver, Prakash Kumar Bal Samant, is currently undergoing treatment.
According to reports, Prakash was driving the car towards Karanjia along with Sanjay and Nilamani when the vehicle collided with a passenger bus named ‘Prashanti’ near Tangurusahi. The impact of the collision was extremely severe, resulting in the instant death of Sanjay and Nilamani at the scene.
Prakash sustained critical injuries and was initially rushed to a nearby medical facility. As his condition worsened, he was later referred to the District Headquarters Hospital in Mayurbhanj for advanced treatment.
Police have seized both the car, which bears a registration number from Jajpur district, and the passenger bus for investigation. Karanjia police have launched a probe to determine the exact cause of the accident, including whether overspeeding or negligence played a role.
