Man hacked to death in Ganjam, another in critical condition

Berhampur, Oct 22: A man was reportedly brutally assaulted and killed by unidentified assailants in the Khallikote block of Odisha's Ganjam district last night.
The deceased victim has been identified as K Padma Reddy, hailing from Komanda village. His companion, Nrusinghanath Panda, a resident of Gudijhara village, suffered severe injuries during the attack and is currently receiving medical treatment at MKCG Medical College and Hospital.
According to available information, the incident unfolded near Badarampalli village within the jurisdiction of Rambha police, as the two individuals were returning home in an auto-rickshaw. During their journey, a gang of miscreants ambushed their vehicle, launching a vicious attack on them using sharp-edged weapons.
Both victims were swiftly rescued and transported to a nearby medical facility, where Reddy was tragically pronounced dead. Due to the worsening state of his injuries, Panda was subsequently transferred to MKCG Hospital for further medical attention.
Police have recovered Reddy's body and initiated a comprehensive investigation into the incident. Although the motive behind the attack remains unclear at this time, there are suspicions that longstanding enmity may have played a role in the murder.
