IMD issues yellow warning for hot and humid weather in Odisha
Bhubaneswar, April 10: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for hot and humid conditions across several districts of Odisha over the next six days, urging residents to take necessary precautions.
According to the IMD’s special bulletin, hot and humid conditions are very likely to prevail on April 11 and 12 in districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Jajpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Gajapati, and Ganjam. These areas are expected to experience increased discomfort due to rising humidity levels.
For April 13 and 14, the IMD has forecast heatwave conditions at isolated places in Balangir, Bargarh, and Sambalpur. At the same time, hot and humid weather will continue in the coastal and adjoining districts.
On April 15 and 16, similar hot and humid conditions are expected to persist across the same 11 districts, indicating a prolonged spell of sultry weather.
The IMD has advised people to remain cautious during peak daytime hours, as such conditions may lead to dehydration and heat-related illnesses. Farmers and outdoor workers have been urged to avoid strenuous activities during the afternoon and instead carry out heavy work during early morning or late evening hours.
