Bhubaneswar, Mar 31: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly attempted suicide after killing his wife at Sanyasikundamal village under Junagarh police limits in Kalahandi district on Tuesday.

The accused has been identified as Pramod Chandan, a resident of the same village. According to preliminary reports, Pramod allegedly killed his wife and later disposed of her body by throwing it into a nearby canal in an apparent attempt to conceal the crime.

After the incident, he reportedly consumed poison in a bid to end his life. He was immediately rushed to the Junagarh Community Health Centre, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Hospital sources said his condition remains critical.

Upon receiving information, Junagarh police, along with fire services personnel, reached the spot and initiated a search operation in the canal while simultaneously launching an investigation into the matter.

Despite sustained efforts, the body of the deceased woman had not been recovered at the time of filing this report, raising concerns and intensifying the search operation.

Police officials stated that further details are awaited and the exact motive behind the incident will be established after a thorough investigation.
