Kidnapped realtor found dead in Ganjam; body recovered near Sorada
Bhubaneswar, April 23: The decomposed body of a 47-year-old realtor, abducted a week ago, was recovered on Wednesday near Rashipankal Bridge in Ganjam district, bringing a tragic end to a high-profile kidnapping case.
The deceased has been identified as Sudhir Kumar Patra, a resident of Berhampur. His body was found in a secluded area near Balipanka village under Sorada police limits. According to reports, locals spotted the body around 8 am on a jungle road, nearly 300 metres from the main road, and immediately informed the police.
Following initial examination, Sorada police alerted teams from Gopalpur police station, suspecting a connection with the recent kidnapping case. A scientific team also visited the spot to assist in the investigation.
Family members later identified the body based on clothing and a bracelet. The body was seized in the presence of a magistrate and sent to MKCG Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.
Patra had been kidnapped on April 15 near Bonagaon. The abductors had demanded Rs 2 crore and sent a video showing him being tortured. Police have intensified the probe to trace those involved and uncover the full sequence of events.
