Two die after jumping in front of train at Jaleswar railway station
Bhubaneswar, Mar 10: In a tragic incident in Odisha’s Balasore district, a man and his sister-in-law allegedly died by suicide after jumping in front of a moving train at Jaleswar railway station on Monday evening. The shocking incident has left local residents stunned and prompted an investigation by railway police.
According to reports, the incident took place at around 7 pm near the south cabin area of the station under the Jaleswar police limits. The deceased have been identified as Bijay Sahu, a resident of Rajpur village, and his sister-in-law Sanjukta Sahu from Baliapal.
Sources said the two were reportedly seen arguing over a personal matter shortly before the incident. Witnesses claimed that the argument escalated near the railway track, after which the duo allegedly jumped in front of an approaching train.
Both victims sustained severe injuries and died on the spot. The sudden and tragic incident caused panic among passengers and railway staff present at the station.
On receiving information, the Government Railway Police (GRP) rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies. The police later took the bodies into custody and sent them for post-mortem examination.
Officials said a detailed investigation has been launched to determine the exact circumstances and reasons that led to the alleged suicide.
