Four family members killed in bolero–motorcycle collision in Bargarh
Bhubaneswar, Mar 9: A tragic road accident claimed the lives of four members of a family after a Bolero vehicle rammed into two motorcycles near Mehna village under Godbhaga police limits in Bargarh district in the early hours of Monday. The incident has left the local community shocked and grieving.
According to reports, the victims were returning home from a wedding ceremony when the speeding Bolero allegedly crashed into the motorcycles they were riding. The deceased have been identified as Santosh Padhan (55), his wife Kahar Padhan (48), Santosh’s brother Dayasagar Padhan, and his minor grandson.
The family was travelling back to their native village, Jampali, under Binka police station limits after attending a wedding in Khairpali. The accident occurred in the wee hours of Monday when the Bolero reportedly hit both motorcycles with great force, leading to the fatal injuries.
Two other grandchildren of the family sustained serious injuries in the crash and were immediately rushed to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (Burla Medical College and Hospital), where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the accident. A manhunt has also been initiated to trace and arrest the Bolero driver, who fled the scene after the crash.
