Rituals disrupted at Lingaraj Temple amid dispute among servitors
Bhubaneswar, Sep 18: Daily rituals at the Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar were disrupted following a dispute between two groups of temple servitors over service-related rights.
According to reports, differences emerged between the Puja Panda and Patri servitors, affecting the scheduled rituals of Lord Lingaraj. The Puja Panda servitors reportedly stopped performing rituals after the Badasinghara Besha, resulting in a halt to the subsequent prescribed rituals of the deity.
The disruption has caused concern among devotees visiting the historic temple, as the daily ritual schedule could not proceed as per tradition. Devotees were reportedly left waiting for the rituals to resume while efforts were made to resolve the dispute between the concerned groups.
The temple administration has scheduled a meeting with representatives of the concerned servitor groups to discuss the issue and find a solution. A Puja Panda servitor said the discussions are expected to help resolve the differences and facilitate the resumption of normal rituals.
The Lingaraj Temple administration is expected to take necessary steps to ensure that the customary rituals are conducted without further interruption.
Frequent disputes among servitor groups have previously affected temple activities, and devotees are now awaiting a resolution so that the rituals of Lord Lingaraj can resume smoothly and the regular worship schedule can be maintained.
