Bhubaneswar, Sep 18: A low-pressure area is likely to form over the north Andaman Sea around the evening of September 19, with the system expected to gradually intensify and move towards the south Odisha–north Andhra Pradesh coasts, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its latest weather bulletin.

According to the IMD bulletin based on observations recorded at 8:30 am on Friday, an upper-air cyclonic circulation over north Thailand in the mid-tropospheric levels continues to persist over the region. The system is very likely to emerge over the north Andaman Sea during the next 24 hours.

Under its influence, a low-pressure area is expected to develop over the north Andaman Sea by the evening of September 19. The weather system is then likely to intensify gradually and move west-northwestwards towards the south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coasts during the following three to four days.

The developing system could influence weather conditions over coastal and adjoining areas, with the possibility of increased rainfall activity as it approaches the region.

The IMD is closely monitoring the system and its movement and has indicated that further updates and forecasts will be issued as the system develops. Authorities and residents in potentially affected areas have been advised to follow the latest official weather bulletins and warnings.
