Revised schedule issued for delimitation, reservation ahead of urban local body polls
Bhubaneswar, Sep 18: The Housing and Urban Development Department on Friday issued a revised schedule for delimitation and reservation of seats ahead of the upcoming general elections to Municipal Councils, Notified Area Councils (NACs) and Municipal Corporations across Odisha.
The earlier schedule has been partially revised, and the concerned District Collectors, except Boudh, have been informed about the changes. As per the revised timeline, draft notifications on delimitation and reservation will be issued on September 24, 2026, following which members of the public can submit objections and suggestions.
The deadline for filing objections and suggestions is October 3. Preliminary notifications on ward boundaries and reservation will be issued on October 7, with appeals accepted by the Housing and Urban Development Department from October 7 to 21.
Collectors will forward the appeals, along with recommendations, to the Director, Municipal Administration by October 22. The State Government, acting as the Appellate Authority, will hear the appeals and take final decisions between October 26 and 28.
The final notification on re-demarcation of ward boundaries and reservation of seats will be issued on October 31 and shared with the State Election Commission, State Government and concerned ULBs.
For Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur and Rourkela Municipal Corporations, separate procedures have been prescribed. The corporations must submit ward division and reservation details, maps and resolutions by September 24. A government circular inviting objections will follow on October 5.
