Odisha BJP to launch month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’
Bhubaneswar, Sep 10: The Odisha BJP will organise a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ from September 17 to October 17 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday and the completion of 25 years of his public service, state BJP president Manmohan Samal said on Thursday.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP state office, Samal said the campaign would feature a series of public service and awareness programmes across Odisha. A major blood donation drive will be organised on September 17. He also appealed to beneficiaries of government schemes and the general public to light an ‘Ashirwad Deep’ at their homes at 7 pm on the inaugural day.
Educational institutions and rural areas will receive special attention. Schools and colleges will organise lectures, drawing competitions and photo exhibitions showcasing the ‘Story of Change’, with elected representatives participating in the programmes.
Under the ‘Seva Setu’ initiative, activities including rangoli exhibitions will be held at Anganwadi centres, while street plays titled ‘Namo Seva Gatha’ will be staged at prominent roads and intersections.
The ‘Seva Mora Yogadan’ programme will see BJP leaders, workers and youth associated with the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra reach out to people at their doorsteps. The campaign will also highlight 25 major services and initiatives associated with Modi’s public life and governance.
A key event will be the ‘Jansevak Mahakumbh’, where around 1.25 lakh elected and public representatives from across Odisha are expected to participate and sing the national anthem together.
Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra said the campaign would go beyond politics and reinforce public service as a commitment while strengthening the party’s connect with people.
