NISER student dies after fall from hostel roof in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar, Sep 19: A third-year student of the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) reportedly died after falling from the roof of the Bhagirathi Hostel on the institute campus late Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Vinay Sanyasi Venkat, a third-year Integrated MSc student. He was a resident of Nagpur, Maharashtra.
According to preliminary reports, the student allegedly slipped and fell from the hostel roof late at night. Following the incident, he sustained critical injuries and was immediately rushed to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for treatment.
Despite efforts by doctors, his condition reportedly deteriorated and he was later declared dead at the hospital.
After receiving information about the incident, Jatani police reached the spot and initiated necessary procedures. The police took possession of the body and began an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the fall.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, which is expected to provide further details regarding the cause of death. Police officials are also likely to examine available evidence and gather information from people who may have been present in or around the hostel at the time of the incident.
The exact circumstances leading to the student’s fall have not yet been established. Authorities are continuing their investigation, and further details are awaited.
