Bhubaneswar, Feb 20: A 25-year-old youth was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a hotel in the Pokhariput area under Airfield Police Station limits in Bhubaneswar late on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as Babuna Pradhan, who was reportedly in a live-in relationship with a young woman for the past six months. According to sources, the woman informed Babuna’s family over phone that he was unwell and staying at the hotel. However, when family members rushed to the spot, they allegedly found him hanging inside the room.

Police were immediately alerted and reached the hotel to recover the body. It was later sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death. Officials said the circumstances surrounding the incident appear suspicious, and further investigation is underway.

Adding to the mystery, the woman who was reportedly staying with Babuna is currently missing. The deceased’s family has lodged a complaint alleging foul play and suspecting her involvement in his death.

Based on the complaint, police have registered a case and launched a detailed probe, including efforts to trace the missing woman and examine hotel records and CCTV footage.
