Odisha extends chit fund refund deadline for small depositors till March 31
Bhubaneswar, Feb 6: In a major relief to victims of chit fund fraud, the Odisha Finance Department has extended the deadline for refunding eligible small depositors to March 31, 2026. The earlier cut-off date was January 31, 2026. The move is aimed at ensuring that more affected investors receive their pending dues under the state’s refund initiative.
The extension covers two specific categories of depositors. These include individuals who had deposited up to ₹10,000 in chit fund companies and whose claims were recommended by the Commission of Inquiry. It also includes depositors who invested up to ₹8,000 with the Golden Land Developers Group of Companies but did not receive refunds during the first phase of disbursement.
Eligible depositors can check the status of their applications by visiting their respective district websites or logging onto the OPID portal at www.opid.odisha.gov.in using details such as affidavit number and application number.
To claim refunds, applicants must approach their local Revenue Inspector with valid identity proof, original money receipts, and bank account details. The department has assured that verified claims will be settled within 15 days.
