Two detained in minor girl’s death in Kendrapara, probe intensifies
Bhubaneswar, April 4: Police in Kendrapara have detained two persons in connection with the death of a seven-year-old girl at Badhinakolha village under Rajnagar block, in a case that has sparked outrage in the locality.
The detained individuals have been identified as Benucharan Das and his son, both residents of the same village. They were picked up late Friday night and are currently being interrogated by police. The girl’s family has lodged a complaint accusing Benucharan Das of murdering the minor and dumping her body in a nearby canal.
According to reports, the child had gone missing on April 2 around 10 am, prompting a search by family members and locals. Her body was recovered from a canal the following day, raising suspicion of foul play.
Senior police officials, including the Superintendent of Police, along with a scientific team and dog squad, rushed to the spot and launched a detailed investigation. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Police said further investigation is underway, and appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings.
