Youth dies while shooting reel in Salandi River, body recovered after search operation
Bhubaneswar, April 2: A tragic incident unfolded in Bhadrak as the body of a youth who went missing while filming a social media Reel in the Salandi River was recovered by Fire Services personnel after an extensive search operation on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Mithun Nayak. According to reports, he, along with two others—Himanshu Sekhar Nayak and another friend—had jumped from Santhia Bridge under Puruna Bazar police limits while attempting to shoot a video.
Police sources said the trio, all labourers from Keonjhar district and currently residing in Bhadrak, were trying to create a Reel by diving into the river. Himanshu jumped first, followed by Mithun. While Himanshu managed to swim back safely, Mithun was swept away by strong currents and went missing.
On receiving information, police and Fire Services teams rushed to the spot and launched a search operation. After nearly two and a half hours of continuous effort, Mithun’s body was recovered from the river.
The body has been sent to the District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem. Police have detained the person who was filming the video, and further investigation is underway.
