GRP seizes Rs 40 lakh cash at Kesinga Station, youth detained for questioning
Bhubaneswar, April 4: In a significant operation, the Government Railway Police (GRP) seized Rs 40 lakh in cash from a youth at Kesinga Railway Station, raising suspicions over the source and intended use of the money.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the Titlagarh GRP team conducted a search operation at Kesinga Railway Station and intercepted a youth carrying a bag filled with cash. The accused has been identified as Prabhat Samuel, who was detained while attempting to board a train.
During preliminary interrogation, Prabhat reportedly informed police that he had received the money from a local businessman and was on his way to Raipur to deliver it. However, officials are yet to verify his claims.
The GRP has taken the accused into custody and launched a detailed investigation to ascertain the origin and purpose of the seized cash. Authorities are also probing possible links to illegal activities, including unaccounted transactions or hawala operations.
Officials said further action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation, and more persons may be questioned in connection with the case.
