Youth dies of burn injuries after firecracker blast in Nayagarh, probe underway
Bhubaneswar, April 4: A tragic incident has been reported from Nayagarh, where a young man succumbed to severe burn injuries sustained in a firecracker explosion. The victim died on Saturday while undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
The deceased has been identified as Bapi Nahak, a resident of Meenagadia village. According to reports, he was critically injured while preparing firecrackers at his residence ahead of the upcoming Lankapodi festival scheduled for April 7.
The explosion left six people seriously injured, including two women and a minor boy. All the victims were initially rushed to the Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital for emergency care. Due to the severity of their injuries, the critically injured were later shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for advanced treatment.
At present, two patients are undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, while three others are admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
The incident has raised concerns over safety practices during firecracker preparation. Police from Nuagaon have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the explosion and determine any negligence involved.
