Bhadrak Police warn against communally sensitive social media posts, issue legal advisory
Bhubaneswar, Feb 3: The Bhadrak Police on Tuesday issued a strong advisory urging social media users to act responsibly and refrain from posting, sharing, or forwarding any content that could disturb communal harmony or social unity. The warning applies to all forms of digital content, including photos, audio clips, videos, and written posts circulated on social networking platforms.
Taking to social media platform X, the police cautioned that such activities are punishable under Sections 353(2) and 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Officials made it clear that strict legal action would be initiated against individuals found spreading content that promotes disharmony, hatred, or misinformation.
The advisory also appealed to citizens to play an active role in curbing the spread of objectionable material online. People who come across such posts have been asked to immediately report them to the authorities. The police advised users to preserve evidence by saving screenshots and URLs of the offending content and to contact the Bhadrak Cyber Cell at 8480693791 for prompt action.
Emphasising the importance of digital responsibility, the Bhadrak Police stated that maintaining peace, mutual respect, and social cohesion is a collective duty. Citizens were urged to use social media platforms thoughtfully and help ensure a peaceful and harmonious society, both online and offline.
