Over 94,000 government posts vacant in Odisha: CM informs Assembly

Bhubaneswar, Feb 23: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday informed the Odisha Legislative Assembly that as many as 94,485 posts are currently lying vacant across various departments of the state government.

Replying to a question from MLA Chakramani Kanhar, the Chief Minister said that as of February 12, 2026, a total of 94,485 positions remain unfilled. He stated that the government has set a target to fill 65,000 posts within the first two years of its tenure to strengthen administrative efficiency and improve public service delivery.

Majhi further revealed that 39,505 posts have already been filled between June 12, 2024 and February 12, 2026. In addition, fresh recruitment notifications have been issued for several departments to accelerate the hiring process.

To ensure fairness and transparency in recruitment, the government has enacted the Odisha Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024. The Act aims to curb malpractice in recruitment and entrance examinations, with strict monitoring of agencies conducting these tests.
