Capital Region Ring Road to be completed in 2.5 years: Works Minister
Bhubaneswar, Feb 21: The Odisha government has announced that the 110.875-km, six-lane, access-controlled Greenfield Capital Region Ring Road from Rameshwar (NH-16) in Khordha district to Tangi (NH-16) will be completed within two and a half years. Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan shared this information in the Odisha Legislative Assembly on Saturday.
Responding in writing to a query from Banki MLA Devi Ranjan Tripathy, the Minister said the proposed ring road will pass through Khordha, Cuttack and Dhenkanal districts. The total estimated cost of the ambitious infrastructure project stands at ₹8,307.74 crore.
It will be implemented under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) and executed in three packages: Rameshwar to Bilipada (25.0 km), Bilipada to Gobindapur (29.5 km), and Gobindapur to Tangi (33.0 km).
Harichandan informed that the tender was opened on February 2, 2026, and is currently under evaluation. The work order is likely to be issued by March 31, 2026. Additionally, the Detailed Project Report for the proposed Bhubaneswar Outer Ring Road is being prepared by Odisha Bridge & Construction Corporation Ltd.
