Uproar marks sixth day of Odisha Assembly Budget Session
Bhubaneswar, Feb 23: The sixth day of the Odisha Assembly Budget Session witnessed chaotic scenes on Tuesday as opposition parties disrupted proceedings during the crucial Question Hour. The session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly had resumed after a day’s break, but normal business could not continue due to persistent protests.
Members of the Biju Janata Dal raised concerns over issues affecting farmers across the state, demanding detailed responses from the government. Meanwhile, legislators from the Indian National Congress created a stir over the alleged Epstein file scandal, pressing for a discussion on the matter.
Despite repeated appeals from Speaker Surama Padhy to maintain order, the protesting members refused to relent. As sloganeering continued inside the House, the Speaker was compelled to adjourn the proceedings twice — first at 11:30 am and later again for 30 minutes.
Amid the continuing deadlock, the Speaker convened an all-party meeting in an effort to restore normalcy and ensure the smooth conduct of the remaining Budget Session proceedings.
