Bhubaneswar, Dec 26: A tragic hit-and-run accident claimed one life and left three others injured at Nuahaat on the Satasankha–Nimapara Road in Puri district on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Prabhakar Behera, a resident of Baligaon village under Pipili police limits.

According to reports, Prabhakar was riding a motorcycle along with his family when the mishap occurred. He was reportedly on his way to catch a bus for a picnic trip to Chilika with relatives. His wife and two children were also accompanying him at the time of the incident.

An unidentified vehicle allegedly rammed into the bike at high speed and fled the spot, leaving the victims lying on the road. Prabhakar Behera died on the spot due to the impact, while his wife and children sustained serious injuries. They were immediately rushed to Sakshigopal Hospital for treatment, where their condition is said to be critical.

Following the incident, angry locals and family members blocked the road, demanding the immediate arrest of the driver responsible for the hit-and-run. The blockade caused traffic disruption in the area. Police reached the spot, pacified the protesters, and have launched an investigation to trace the absconding vehicle.
