CM Mohan Charan Majhi pays last respects to former Korei MLA Sanchita Mohanty
Bhubaneswar, Dec 26: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday paid his last respects to senior BJP leader and former Korei MLA Sanchita Mohanty, who passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. Her demise has cast a pall of gloom across political circles in the state.
Taking to his X handle, Chief Minister Majhi expressed deep grief over the loss and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. “We paid our last respects by viewing the mortal remains of Sanchita Mohanty, our party’s senior leader and former legislator from Korei. I convey my condolences to the bereaved family and pray to Lord Shri Jagannath for the peace of the departed soul. Om Shanti,” the Chief Minister wrote.
According to sources, Mohanty fell ill earlier in the day and was rushed to a private hospital, where she breathed her last during treatment. She had represented the Korei Assembly constituency from 2004 to 2009 and was known for her active role in state politics.
Born on September 17, 1958, Sanchita Mohanty was the daughter of Rajendra Kumar Singh. She held postgraduate degrees in political science and Odissi dance and later pursued law at Utkal University. Several BJP leaders and workers have expressed condolences, remembering her contributions to the party and public life.
