Orissa High Court announces winter vacation; regular hearings to resume on January 5, 2026
Bhubaneswar, Dec 24: The Orissa High Court has officially declared its winter vacation with effect from December 25, making Wednesday the last working day of regular court proceedings. As per the notification issued on Wednesday, the High Court will resume full-fledged operations on Monday, January 5, 2026, after the holiday break.
The notification also announced that January 2, 2026 (Thursday) will be observed as a special holiday. To compensate for this additional holiday, the High Court will function on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
During the vacation period, arrangements have been made to ensure that urgent judicial matters are addressed. A vacation bench will function on December 30, 2025. The division bench will comprise Justice Sabitri Rath and Justice M.S. Raman to hear select cases. In addition, Justice Sabitri Rath, Justice Aditya Kumar Mohapatra, and Justice M.S. Raman will sit individually on separate single benches to dispose of urgent matters.
The administrative office of the High Court will remain open from December 26 to December 31, 2025, between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm. The computer filing counter for fresh cases will operate on working days from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon. Advocates may submit mention memos for urgent matters at the Deputy Registrar (Judicial) office on December 29, 2025, ensuring continuity of essential judicial services during the vacation.
