State health team raids unlicensed diagnostic centre in Cuttack, probe underway
Bhubaneswar, Dec 23: A three-member team from the State Health Department, accompanied by the Cuttack Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO), conducted a raid on a private diagnostic facility on Kathagola Road in the Mangalabag area on Tuesday after preliminary checks indicated serious irregularities. The centre has been identified as BSR Diagnostic Center.
According to health officials, the inspection was part of a routine drive to ensure that private medical and diagnostic facilities are functioning in compliance with government norms and possess valid operational licenses. During the inspection, officials reportedly found that the diagnostic centre was operating without proper documentation or a valid license.
“We are verifying all relevant records and documents. Strict action will be taken against the management based on the final findings,” a senior health official said.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that the centre was initially owned by an individual who later went bankrupt. It was subsequently sold to the current owner, who has been managing the facility since 2019 without obtaining the required license.
Officials also flagged serious safety lapses at the facility, including the absence of an adequate fire safety system, raising concerns over patient and staff safety. The Health Department has stated that further action will follow after the verification process is completed.
