Bhubaneswar, Dec 18: A tragic incident unfolded at Manakunda village under Bhogarai police station limits in Balasore district, where a man lost his life after allegedly being assaulted by his own brother following a domestic dispute. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community.

The deceased has been identified as Sudam Majhi. Police have detained his younger brother, Sudhakar Majhi, in connection with the incident and initiated a detailed investigation to establish the exact sequence of events and fix responsibility.

According to preliminary reports, a heated argument broke out between the two brothers over a family-related issue. The verbal altercation soon escalated into a physical confrontation. During the scuffle, Sudhakar allegedly pushed Sudam to the ground with force, causing him to sustain serious injuries.

Family members immediately rushed Sudam to the Jaleswarpur Community Health Centre for emergency treatment. However, as his condition deteriorated, doctors referred him to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital for advanced care. Despite all medical efforts, Sudam succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead by hospital authorities.

Police have registered a case and are questioning the detained brother. Further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading to the fatal altercation.
