Berhampur, Oct 13: In a significant development, the police apprehended the driver of the slain woman social activist who was brutally killed in her Nilakanthanagar residence, situated within the Gosani Nuagaon police jurisdiction.

The arrested individual, identified as Simanchal, has admitted to the heinous crime after being previously taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation.

It is worth noting that Simanchal carried out the attack on Soudamini while she was alone at home, engaged in a phone conversation. Tragically, the sustained assault led to her immediate demise. The person on the other end of the call rushed to her residence upon hearing her distress and discovered Soudamini in a pool of blood.

Soudamini was a dedicated champion for children's welfare, actively collaborating with several non-governmental organizations. Her altruistic efforts focused on assisting children affected by AIDS, and her contributions left a profound impact on the community she served.
