Armed gang loots transport office in Koida, fleeing with cash and equipment
Bhubaneswar, Nov 20: In a shocking late-night heist, eight masked miscreants armed with rifles and knives stormed the Tarini Carrier transport office in the Rengalbeda area of Koida on Wednesday. The armed group reportedly entered the premises around midnight, threatening staff members before looting approximately Rs 3.5 lakh in cash. The brazen nature of the crime has left the local community alarmed.
According to initial reports, the attackers not only took the cash but also ransacked the office, smashing computers and damaging CCTV cameras to wipe out any evidence. They allegedly removed the hard disk from the surveillance system before fleeing the scene, indicating that the operation was carefully planned.
What has raised further concern is that the incident occurred in a high-security zone, just a short distance from the Koida police station. Despite the proximity, the miscreants managed to execute the robbery and escape unhindered.
Soon after the staff alerted authorities, Koida Police rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation. Efforts are underway to identify the culprits, with police examining possible insider involvement and reviewing surrounding area footage to trace the gang’s movements.
