Four-year-old dies after swallowing toy from chips packet in Kandhamal
Bhubaneswar, Nov 19: In a tragic and deeply distressing incident, a four-year-old boy lost his life after accidentally swallowing a small plastic toy that came as a free item inside a packet of chips. The heartbreaking incident occurred at Musumaha Pada near Shikaramaha village under Brahmanigaon police limits in Kandhamal district.
The deceased child has been identified as the son of Ranjit Pradhan. According to reports, the toddler was playing with the toy while eating the chips. In a moment of misfortune, he accidentally swallowed the plastic piece, which became lodged in his throat. The obstruction caused severe breathing difficulty, leaving the child gasping for air.
Family members immediately rushed the boy to Daringbadi Hospital, hoping to save him. Despite the doctors’ efforts, the child succumbed to his injuries during treatment, leaving the family and locals devastated.
The incident has triggered shock and grief across the region, with many questioning the safety of small toys often included in snacks targeted at children. Locals have demanded stricter regulations to prevent such tragedies in the future.
