Odisha Govt to install ‘Road Accidents clock’ at AG Square to boost public awareness
Bhubaneswar, Nov 19: In a significant step towards promoting road safety, the Odisha government has approved the installation of an “Odisha Road Accidents Clock” at AG Square in Bhubaneswar. The initiative aims to highlight the alarming rise in road accidents and encourage safer behaviour among commuters.
The decision was communicated through an official letter issued by Tapan Kumar Mishra, Joint Director of the Commerce and Transport Department. According to the communication, the project will feature an outdoor video wall designed to display real-time data and awareness messages related to road accidents. Addsoft Technologies Ltd. has already submitted a techno-commercial proposal for the display system.
The letter stated that the installation of the clock is intended to serve as an impactful public awareness tool, urging citizens to stay alert and follow traffic rules. “It has been decided to set up an Odisha Road Accidents Clock at AG Square, Bhubaneswar, with the objective of creating public awareness about road accidents and fostering positive behavioural change,” the communication noted.
The General Manager of Bhubaneswar Smart City Ltd. has been directed to begin immediate installation procedures. Additionally, Smart City authorities have been instructed to work closely with the Transport Commissioner to ensure smooth and timely execution of the project.
