Bhubaneswar, Nov 19: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday met 40 foreign delegates from 12 countries participating in the 37th Parliamentary Internship Programme at Lok Seva Bhawan. The delegates, who are part of the initiative organised by the Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracies (PRIDE), New Delhi, engaged in detailed discussions with the Chief Minister on governance, democratic practices, and Odisha’s development model.
Welcoming the delegates, Majhi highlighted Odisha’s deep-rooted democratic traditions and the 89-year legacy of the State Legislative Assembly. He noted that the Assembly’s parliamentary procedures are among the finest in the country, ensuring robust, transparent, and inclusive decision-making.
Majhi informed them that between June 2024 and June 2025, the Odisha Legislative Assembly conducted 62 sessions and spent a record 12 hours and 25 minutes deliberating on the Odisha University (Amendment) Bill, 2024—reflecting its commitment to meaningful legislative debate.
The Chief Minister also emphasised Odisha’s leadership in digital governance. He outlined key initiatives such as the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), e-Office systems, a fully digital library, and the integration of AI for legislative research and indexing. He added that Odisha’s successful hosting of the National Conference of Chairpersons of SC and ST Committees showcases its dedication to inclusive governance.
