Abhijit Majumdar shows steady recovery; shifted from ventilator to medicine ward at AIIMS
Bhubaneswar, Nov 10: Renowned Odia music director Abhijit Majumdar is showing encouraging signs of recovery after weeks of battling a critical neurological condition. According to the latest health bulletin issued by AIIMS Bhubaneswar, Majumdar has been shifted from ventilator support to the medicine ward, marking a positive turn in his treatment.
Majumdar was admitted to AIIMS on September 4 in a critical state and had slipped into a coma. His condition initially improved slightly on September 25, prompting doctors to move him from the ICU to a general ward. However, complications resurfaced, and he had to be re-admitted to the ICU on October 11. During this period, he was placed on ventilator support to stabilise his deteriorating health. Although a brain MRI conducted on October 23 did not show significant improvement, his vital parameters have since stabilised, leading to his shift from intensive care.
Doctors stated that Majumdar is suffering from Asymmetric Demyelinating Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder, along with pneumonia, lung infection, blood infection, kidney issues, and deficiencies of Vitamin D and folic acid. Despite the challenges, his current recovery provides renewed hope to his family, fans, and well-wishers.
