Odisha to get relief from cold wave as night temperature gradually rises
Bhubaneswar, Nov 19: Odisha is likely to experience some relief from the ongoing cold wave, with night temperatures expected to rise gradually across several regions of the state. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature is set to increase by 1–2°C in many districts, bringing a slight but welcome change in weather conditions. The mercury is further expected to climb by an additional 2–3°C over the next two to three days.
Presently, Bhubaneswar, Khordha, Gopalpur and nearby regions are recording around 17°C, while Puri remains comparatively warmer at about 20°C. However, the cold remains intense in interior pockets. G Udayagiri in Kandhamal district continues to be the coldest place in Odisha with a minimum temperature of 5.6°C, followed by Daringbadi and Phulbani which recorded 8°C.
The IMD has predicted a more noticeable rise in temperature from Thursday night, which is expected to provide further relief to residents. Temperature readings from Monday show an upward trend in several places: Daringbadi rose from 7°C to 8°C, Semiliguda from 6.1°C to 7.7°C, and Koraput and Rourkela saw similar increases. Kendujhar, Keeri, and Dhenkanal also recorded warmer nights. However, slight drops were observed in Angul and Chipilima.
In coastal regions, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack witnessed a rise in night temperatures, while Jharsuguda saw a marginal dip. Overall, the state is slowly moving towards milder winter conditions.
