Adani Enterprises Receives Prestigious Environmental Award for Hydrogen Truck Utilization in Mining

Raipur, 26 September 2025 — Marking a significant milestone in the advancement of green technology within India’s mining sector, Adani Enterprises Limited has been honored with the ‘Jury Choice Leadership in Climate Action Award’ at the third annual Sustainability Symposium & Excellence Awards 2025.

The award was presented at a ceremony held on Wednesday at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, where leading companies from across the country showcased their environmental initiatives. Adani Enterprises received recognition for the successful deployment of hydrogen-fueled trucks in mining logistics within India—a pioneering step towards reducing carbon emissions and fostering the adoption of green energy.

The hydrogen truck, operating in Chhattisgarh, replaces conventional diesel-powered vehicles. Powered by three hydrogen tanks, the truck is capable of transporting 40 tonnes of cargo over a range of 200 kilometers, resulting in a substantial reduction in noise and air pollution. This vehicle was flagged off by the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vishnu Deo Sai, in Raipur in May. It is currently used for coal transportation from the Gare Pelma III mine to the power plant.

The project was awarded to Adani Enterprises through a tender process from Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited.

The award jury commended the initiative’s technical innovation, energy efficiency, and Adani Group’s contribution to green logistics. This award acknowledges Adani Enterprises’ commitment to environmental leadership and sustainability.

Adani Enterprises is committed to developing model mines with minimal environmental impact in the mining sector. In addition to hydrogen trucks, the company is also adopting autonomous dozer push technology, solar power, digital initiatives, and tree transplantation techniques to set new benchmarks in sustainable mining.

Adani Enterprises aims to make India self-reliant in energy, reduce dependence on traditional fuels, and steer the country toward clean energy. The company plans to expand its fleet of hydrogen trucks in the future, further enhancing the sustainability of logistics infrastructure.
