Bhubaneswar, July 4: In a tragic incident, the Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Chauliaganj Police Station in Cuttack, Beauty Mohanty, was found dead inside her official quarters on Saturday, sending shockwaves through the police department.

According to police sources, the incident came to light after Mohanty failed to respond to repeated phone calls from colleagues. Concerned over her unresponsiveness, personnel from Chauliaganj Police Station visited her official residence. When there was no response despite repeated knocking, senior police officers were informed.

The police team later entered the quarters and found the officer hanging inside the residence. She was immediately taken into custody for legal formalities, and her body was subsequently sent to SCB Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

While police suspect the case to be a suicide based on preliminary findings, officials have stated that the exact circumstances surrounding the incident will be established only after the investigation and post-mortem report are completed.

Initial inquiries suggest that a family dispute may have been one of the factors behind the tragic incident, though investigators are examining all possible angles before drawing any conclusions.

The sudden death of the senior police officer has deeply saddened her colleagues and the local police fraternity. A detailed investigation has been launched, and authorities are awaiting the post-mortem findings to ascertain the circumstances leading to her death.
