Odisha government invites OMSA for talks to resolve doctors’ strike
Bhubaneswar, July 3: In a bid to resolve the ongoing doctors’ strike and restore normal healthcare services across the state, the Odisha government has invited the leadership of the Odisha Medical Service Association (OMSA) for a high-level discussion on Friday.
The Health and Family Welfare Department has issued a formal communication stating that a meeting between Health Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling and the executive members of OMSA has been scheduled for July 4, 2026, at 11:30 am. The meeting will be held in the Minister’s office chamber in Bhubaneswar.
According to the official letter, OMSA State President Dr. Kishore Chandra Mishra and State General Secretary Dr. Sanjib Kumar Pradhan have been requested to attend the discussion. The government hopes the meeting will pave the way for an amicable settlement of the issues raised by the association.
The communication, issued by the Additional Secretary to the Government, underscores the administration’s commitment to engaging in constructive dialogue with the protesting doctors. The primary objective of the meeting is to address the association’s service-related demands and ensure the early restoration of uninterrupted healthcare services across Odisha.
The invitation comes at a time when the ongoing strike by OMSA members has affected medical services in several government healthcare institutions, causing inconvenience to patients.
Officials expressed optimism that meaningful discussions between the government and the doctors’ association would help break the deadlock and lead to a mutually acceptable solution. The outcome of Saturday’s meeting is expected to play a crucial role in determining the future course of the agitation and the resumption of normal medical services in the state.
