Bol Bom devotee killed, another critically injured in hit-and-run in Jagatsinghpur
Bhubaneswar, July 28: In a tragic incident, a Bol Bom devotee lost his life while another was critically injured after being hit by a speeding bus near Palasahi village under Naugaon police limits in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district. The accident took place when the devotees were returning after offering holy water at a Shiva temple as part of the Shravan month rituals.
The victims were among a group of four Kaudias from Puri district who had visited the renowned Gorakhnath Peeth, located around 13 kilometers from Jagatsinghpur town. The mishap occurred when a private passenger bus named ‘Sri Krishna’, en route from Naugaon to Jagatsinghpur, rammed into the devotees and fled the scene immediately after the collision.
While one devotee succumbed to his injuries on the spot, the other severely injured individual was rushed to the Jagatsinghpur District Headquarters Hospital and is currently undergoing treatment. The identity of the deceased has not been officially confirmed, though initial reports indicate he belonged to Puri district.
Local police have launched an investigation and are making efforts to trace the absconding vehicle and determine the exact cause of the accident.
