Bhubaneswar, May 4: In a heartbreaking incident, a young child lost his life after getting entangled in a makeshift swing at Jagannathi village under Udala police station limits in Mayurbhanj district.

The deceased has been identified as Satya Murmu, son of Durga Murmu of the village.

According to reports, the child was playing on a swing made from a saree tied to a tree in the courtyard of his house. His family members were engaged in routine household work, assuming he was playing safely nearby. However, tragedy struck when the saree used for the swing slipped and tightened around his neck.

By the time a family member noticed the child hanging from the swing, he was found unconscious. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in Udala, where doctors declared him brought dead.

The incident has left the entire village in shock and grief, with locals mourning the untimely death of the child.

Authorities have urged parents to remain vigilant and ensure safer play environments for children to prevent such unfortunate accidents in the future.
