IMD issues yellow warning for Odisha; thunderstorms and gusty winds likely over next 5 days

Bhubaneswar, June 6: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for several districts in Odisha, forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds over the next five days. The advisory also includes warnings of hot and humid conditions in coastal areas.
Day-wise Forecast Highlights
June 7 (Day 1): Thunderstorms likely in as many as 30 districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Rayagada, and Malkangiri.
June 8 (Day 2): Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) may occur in Mayurbhanj, Ganjam, Gajapati, and other southern districts.
June 9 (Day 3 & 4): South Odisha districts like Malkangiri, Koraput, Ganjam, and Rayagada will likely witness similar weather activity.
June 10 (Day 5): Thunderstorms may affect parts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
In addition, oppressive hot and humid weather is expected in coastal districts like Kendrapara, Nayagarh, and Jagatsinghpur. Citizens are urged to remain cautious, avoid open areas during lightning, and follow local advisories to ensure safety during adverse weather conditions.
