Dumuni guides KISS to win All Odisha 7’s Rugby Sr Women’s title

Bhubaneswar: Dumuni Majhi dominated the show by scoring three try and powered the KISS senior women’s team to clinch the champions trophy by winning over Keonjhar by 48-7 in the ongoing 12th All Odisha Rugby 7s Junior Boys & Girls, Senior Men’s & Women's Championship 2023 at KIIT University on Friday.
In the senior women one-sided final match, apart from Dumuni, Mama Nayak scored a brace, while Nirmalya Rout and Parbati scored a try each for KISS. Sunita Hansda scored a solitary try for Keonjhar. The Jagatsinghpur team was finished third by defeating Mayurbhanj 34-0. Altogether nine teams were participated in this category.
Similarly eight junior girls teams were took part in the junior category, while KISS team bagged the champion’s title by eliminating Keonjhar by 26-0 and Mayurbhanj finished third by defeating Jajpur 10-0.
Ahead of the National Rugby 7’s Junior and Senior Championship to be held at Balewadi , Pune from June 5 to 7. A three week long State level selection and trail camp to be held at KIIT University, altogether 25 players each from junior and senior category will be shortlisted for the camp.
Chartered Accountant Manoranjan Panigrahi gave away the prizes as the chief guest of the closing ceremony in presence of Odisha Rugby Football Association Secretary U K Mohanty, chief coach Manas Kumar Jena and coach Dhiren Kumar Rout.
