State Food Supply Minister Should Apologize To people : BJD

Bhubaneswar : In Mandipanka village of Daringbadi block of Kandhamal region, two women died and six women were seriously injured in an incident where the PDS distribution system of the state government has completely failed. In a press conference held today at Sankha Bhawan, former minister and party spokesperson Mr. Sanjay Dasbarma said that according to the rules of National Food Security scheme , proper system of ration distribution in the state is the full responsibility of the state government. Apart from the notable National Food Security Scheme, the State Food Security Scheme has been implemented by the new government in the state, through which more than twenty-five lakh people are being provided five kg of rice per capita per month. According to the food security scheme in the state, the order was issued on 27 September for the distribution of three months of ration, which should be completed within 25 days. However, even after more than a month, this ration was not distributed in Mandipanka area. After this incident happened, ration was distributed on 2nd November. Mr. Dasbarma said that the District Collector has admitted that the ration could not be distributed.

Mr. Dasbarma said that the state government made very irresponsible comments on this sensitive incident instead of taking it seriously. The Deputy Chief Minister of the state, Mrs. Pravati Parida, said mango kernel is the traditional food of the residents of the area. Similarly, the food supply minister of the state, Mr. Krishna Chandra Bose, also said that mango kernel is the traditional food of the residents of the area and that there was enough rice in the houses of the victims when the incident took place, which is very unfortunate.

Mr. Dasbarma demanded that the state food supply minister apologize to the people of the state for his irresponsible remarks.
