Odisha braces for hot spell: IMD forecasts high temperatures and humidity
Bhubaneswar, March 31: The India Meteorological Department's regional office has forecasted hot and humid weather conditions across the state from April 2 to 6, 2024. This prediction is attributed to the expected increase in maximum temperature and high humidity levels in the atmosphere, as stated in the mid-day bulletin released on Sunday.
As a precautionary measure, people are advised to take necessary precautions when venturing outdoors during the peak hours of the day, typically between 1100 Hrs to 1500 Hrs IST during this period.
According to the IMD's forecast, there is a likelihood of a decrease in maximum temperatures (day temperature) by 3°C-4°C over the next 24 hours, followed by a subsequent increase of 4°C-5°C at many places over the next two days. Minimal change is expected thereafter across Odisha districts. Similarly, minimum temperatures (night temperature) are anticipated to remain relatively stable over the next two days, followed by a gradual rise of 2°C-3°C at various locations over the subsequent three days.
Additionally, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected at isolated spots in Nuapada, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Boudh, Khurda, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kendrapara, and Nabarangpur districts. Dry weather conditions are likely to prevail over the remaining districts of Odisha during this period.
