CM Mohan Charan Majhi reviews Rath Yatra preparations during Puri visit
Bhubaneswar, June 29: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday visited Puri to review preparations for the world-famous Rath Yatra and held a courtesy meeting with Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb at the royal palace.
The Chief Minister received a warm welcome from the Gajapati Maharaja, following which the two held detailed discussions on the arrangements for the annual Rath Yatra. They reviewed measures being taken to ensure the smooth, safe and successful conduct of the grand festival. The meeting also focused on issues related to the preservation of Jagannath culture, the rich spiritual heritage of Puri and the city's continued development as a major pilgrimage destination.
Later, Majhi visited the Gundicha Rath Khala at Badadanda, where the three sacred chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra are being constructed. He inspected the progress of the work, interacted with the traditional artisans engaged in chariot making and enquired about their requirements. The Chief Minister stressed the importance of completing the construction on schedule while ensuring the safety and welfare of the craftsmen.
Sharing his thoughts on X, Majhi praised the dedication of the artisans, saying they play an invaluable role in preserving the centuries-old tradition of Rath Yatra. He assured them of the government's full support for their convenience and safety and expressed hope that, with the blessings of Lord Jagannath, this year's Rath Yatra would be celebrated peacefully, smoothly and with great devotion.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister also joined thousands of devotees to witness the sacred Snana Purnima rituals and offered prayers to Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra at the Snana Mandap.
