DK Shivakumar Set to Take Oath as Karnataka Chief Minister on June 3

Bengaluru, June 1: Karnataka is preparing for a significant political transition as senior Congress leader D.K. Shivakumar is set to be sworn in as the state's next Chief Minister on June 3. The development follows his unanimous election as the leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP), paving the way for him to assume the state's top executive office.

The announcement comes after the resignation of former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who stepped down following consultations within the Congress leadership. During a meeting of Congress legislators held in Bengaluru, party members expressed their support for Shivakumar, leading to his formal selection as the CLP leader.

D.K. Shivakumar, one of the most influential leaders in Karnataka politics, has played a crucial role in strengthening the Congress organization over the years. Known for his strong political network and organizational skills, he has served in several important ministerial positions and was instrumental in the party's electoral successes in the state.

The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place at Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru and is expected to be attended by senior Congress leaders, party workers, elected representatives, and dignitaries from across the country. Preparations for the event are already underway, with state authorities coordinating security and logistical arrangements.

However, Shivakumar has indicated that the ceremony will be conducted in a simple and restrained manner. Party leaders have emphasized the need to avoid large-scale celebrations and processions that could cause inconvenience to the public. The decision reflects an effort to ensure smooth traffic movement and maintain normalcy in Bengaluru, a city often affected by congestion during major political events.

Attention has also turned to the formation of the new cabinet. Sources within the party suggest that consultations are ongoing regarding the allocation of ministerial portfolios and the inclusion of leaders representing different regions and communities. Senior Congress leaders are reportedly in discussions with the party high command to finalize the composition of the council of ministers before the oath-taking ceremony.

Several prominent names have emerged in political discussions regarding key positions in the new government. Leaders such as M.B. Patil, Priyank Kharge, and Satish Jarkiholi are among those being considered for significant responsibilities. The party leadership is expected to strike a balance between experience, regional representation, and administrative capability while forming the cabinet.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has stated that deliberations on the cabinet structure are still in progress and that the final list of ministers will be announced after necessary consultations. Party officials have expressed confidence that the transition of leadership will strengthen governance and help accelerate developmental initiatives across Karnataka.

Political observers view Shivakumar's elevation as a major milestone in his long political career. His appointment is expected to bring a renewed focus on infrastructure development, investment promotion, welfare programs, and administrative reforms in the state.

As Karnataka awaits the swearing-in ceremony on June 3, expectations are high that the new leadership will provide stability and direction while addressing key challenges facing the state. The event marks the beginning of a new chapter in Karnataka's political landscape under the leadership of D.K. Shivakumar.
