Man allegedly attacks father with axe in Jharsuguda village
Bhubaneswar, May 29: A shocking incident of violence was reported from Odisha’s Jharsuguda district after a man allegedly attacked his father with an axe during a domestic dispute at Kudabaga village under Rengali police station limits.
The injured father has been identified as Thanda Ram Mallick. Another villager, Niranjan Bagar, also sustained serious injuries while trying to intervene in the assault.
According to reports, the incident took place following a heated argument between Thanda Ram and his son Chandacharan. In a fit of rage, Chandacharan allegedly attacked his father with an axe, causing a severe injury to his neck.
Hearing the commotion, local resident Niranjan Bagar reportedly rushed to the spot in an attempt to stop the assault and rescue the elderly man. However, the accused allegedly turned violent towards him as well and attacked him during the confrontation.
Both Thanda Ram and Niranjan sustained critical injuries in the incident. Local residents immediately came to their rescue and shifted them to the Lakhanpur Community Health Centre for emergency treatment. Their condition was stated to be serious.
After receiving information about the incident, personnel from Rengali Police Station rushed to the village and initiated an investigation into the matter.
Police are reportedly examining the circumstances that led to the violent attack, while efforts are underway to take appropriate legal action against the accused.
